ANFAC March-May 1955: Melbourne-Sydney Routes


The chart below is reproduced from ANFAC March to May 1955 and shows the Melbourne to Sydney air routes. The predominant type of radio navigation aid, as now, is the NDB (formerly 'Homer'). The trunk route is now defined by VAR beacons.

Melbourne-Sydney is a two-way route running from Essendon (VAR - not on this chart) via Mangalore, Holbrook, Yass (NDB) to Sydney (VAR - not shown on this chart). Note also that there are Control Towers at Mangalore and Wagga.
