By the early 1970s the former Aeradio unit at Cloncurry had closed down and its function replaced by a new Flight Service Unit at nearby Mt Isa. The old Aeradio building was then converted into the airport passenger terminal, as seen in this photo taken in June 1974.

The building is still recognisably the original, although the verandah that originally existed has been enclosed. The adjacent powerhouse, to the left in this photo, remains and in fact remained standing in 2001.

In the 1980s a new passenger terminal was built on the site of the former Aeradio building.
