Sydney Aeradio - c. late 1950s

Fairly spartan conditions in the Aeradio Office at Sydney’s Mascot Airport in this undated photo, thought to have been taken in the late 1950s. The HF radio operator nearest the camera is at the ‘Aero-Mobile’ console, communicating with aircraft in flight, whilst the other is the ‘Point-to-Point’ operator – receiving and transmitting messages to other Aeradio stations. This operator can be seen working his Morse key.

The equipment in the immediate foreground is a teleprinter.
