Whim Creek Passenger Terminal - 1979
Whim Creek

The photo above shows the extremely spartan Passenger Terminal at Whim Creek aerodrome, on Western Australia's remote north-west coast between Karratha and Port Hedland, on 14 January 1979. Note the extremely practical seating arrangements! The aerodrome's dirt runway can bee seen in the background. Enjoying the comforts are Port Hedland Tower Air Traffic Controller Sean Kinsella and his wife who took visiting Controller Geoff Goodall out for a Sunday drive.

At various times Whim Creek was a stop for both MacRobertson Miller Airlines and Airlines(WA) Ltd, however this destination has not been served by a scheduled service since the 1950s.
